Base Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Batter

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and eggs until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Baking

  1. 4

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Prepare Baking Pan

Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with cooking spray or butter.

  3. 6

    Pour Batter

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

  4. 7

    Add Chocolate Chips

Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top of the batter.

  5. 8

    Bake

Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Serving

  1. 9

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  2. 10

    Add Toppings

Once cooled, cut the cake into squares and serve with whipped cream, chopped nuts, and sprinkles on top as desired.
