Method

Prep

1

Rim the glass

Rub the lime wedge around the rim of a chilled rocks or margarita glass. Spread the kosher salt or Tajín on a small plate, then gently press and twist the glass rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

2

Juice citrus

If not already done, juice fresh blood orange(s) until you have 1.5 oz (about 1 small blood orange) and juice a lime to yield 0.75 oz. Strain if you prefer a smoother cocktail.

Mixing

3

Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz orange liqueur, 1.5 oz fresh blood orange juice, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 1 oz sour mix into a cocktail shaker.

4

If you like a slightly sweeter drink, add 0.25 oz simple syrup to the shaker.

5

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) to near the top, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well chilled.

Serve

6

Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice (or serve neat in the chilled glass if you prefer).

7

Garnish with a blood orange wheel on the rim and serve immediately.
