1

Build and Stir

Place a mixing glass or a rocks glass suitable for stirring on your bar surface. Add the angostura bitters, orange bitters and simple syrup to the glass. Pour in the bourbon. Fill the mixing glass with ice (enough to come near the top) and stir gently but thoroughly for 20–30 seconds until the drink is well chilled and slightly diluted (glass will become frosted).

2

Prepare Glass

If you used a mixing glass, strain the chilled cocktail into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. If you stirred in the serving glass, leave the ice in place.

3

Garnish

Express the oils from the orange peel by holding the peel skin-side down about 2–3 inches above the drink and giving it a firm squeeze so the oils spray onto the surface. Optionally run the peel around the rim, then drop the peel into the glass as garnish.

4

Serve immediately. Tasting note: adjust simple syrup up to 0.5 oz if you prefer a sweeter Old Fashioned; reduce to 0.125 oz or omit orange bitters if you prefer a drier, more bourbon-forward profile.
