Prepare glass
Choose a highball glass (12–14 oz). Fill the glass about three-quarters full with fresh ice (roughly 1 cup).
Build the drink
In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass filled with ice, combine 2 oz vodka, 1 oz peach schnapps and 3 oz orange juice. If you prefer a colder, slightly diluted drink, shake vigorously for 8–10 seconds. Alternatively, gently stir for 6–8 seconds to avoid over-dilution.
Strain and top
Strain the mixture into the prepared highball glass over the ice.
Add cranberry float
Slowly pour 1 oz cranberry juice over the back of a spoon held just above the drink surface so the cranberry juice floats and settles on top, creating a layered red 'float.' Adjust amount to taste for color and tartness.
Garnish and serve
Garnish with an orange slice on the rim and a maraschino cherry placed on top (optional). Serve with a straw so the drink can be stirred before drinking if desired.
