Cocktail

Method

Prep & Garnish

  1. 1

    Rim the glass

Pour the salt onto a small plate. Run the lime wedge around the rim of a chilled large margarita glass or rocks glass, then dip the rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

  2. 2

If you prefer no salt, skip the rimming step and simply chill the glass in the freezer for a few minutes.

Mixing the Margarita

  1. 3

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Jose Cuervo Traditional, 1 oz Grand Marnier, 2 oz sweet & sour mix, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz agave syrup (if using).

  2. 4

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the shaker is cold to the touch and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.

  3. 5

    Strain and serve

Strain the cocktail into the prepared salted margarita glass over fresh ice (optional) or serve up (no ice) depending on preference. If serving on the rocks, fill the glass with fresh ice before straining.

  4. 6

    Garnish

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Optionally, express a lime peel over the drink for extra aroma.
