Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or Nick & Nora glass by filling it with ice water while you mix the drink. Let sit for 2–3 minutes, then discard the ice water and set the glass aside.

  2. 2

    Measure and combine

Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 0.5 oz Green Chartreuse, 0.5 oz dry vermouth, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz agave syrup, and 2 dashes orange bitters into a mixing glass or cocktail shaker.

  3. 3

    Add ice and stir/chill

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of fresh ice (enough to chill thoroughly). Stir briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full strokes) until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted. If you prefer a slightly brighter texture, you may shake for 8–10 seconds, then double-strain into the chilled glass.

  4. 4

    Strain and garnish

Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass. Express a lime twist over the drink by holding the twist over the surface and pinching it to release the oils, then drop the twist into the glass as a garnish.

  5. 5

Serve immediately. The Gaspard shows herbal complexity from the Chartreuse balanced with tequila’s agave and the soft dryness of vermouth, brightened by lime and rounded by agave syrup.
