Method
Dough & Base
preheat and prepare dough
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats. Lightly flour a work surface. If using refrigerated dough, let it come to room temperature for 20–30 minutes. Stretch or roll the dough into a 12-inch round, keeping a slightly thicker rim for the crust.
oil and garlic
In a small bowl, mix 2 tbs olive oil with 1 tsp minced garlic. Brush the dough lightly with about half of this garlic oil, leaving the outer rim unbrushed to form the crust.
sauce
Spread 3 tbs tomato pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Avoid over-saucing to prevent a soggy crust.
Cheese
Evenly sprinkle 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella over the sauce. If using, lightly scatter 2 tbs grated parmesan on top of the mozzarella for extra flavor.
Vegetable Toppings
Finishing & Seasoning
Drizzle the remaining garlic oil (if any) or 1 tbs olive oil lightly over the top. Sprinkle 1 tsp dried oregano, 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes, 0.25 tsp salt, and 0.125 tsp freshly ground black pepper evenly over the pizza.
bake
Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (onto the pizza stone or a baking sheet). Bake at 475°F (245°C) for 10–14 minutes, rotating once halfway through, until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
finish and serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and let rest 2–3 minutes. Tear or chiffonade 6 fresh basil leaves and scatter over the top (optional). Slice into 8 slices and serve hot. Adjust with extra red pepper flakes or salt to taste at the table.
