Protein (choose one)

Optional garnishes & condiments

Method

Protein (choose one)

1

Sausage patties

Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage patties (4 oz total, about 3–4 small patties) and cook 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through (internal temperature 160°F/71°C). Remove to a warm plate and tent with foil.

2

Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Add the links (4) and cook, turning occasionally, 10–12 minutes until evenly browned and cooked through (internal temperature 160°F/71°C). Remove to a warm plate and tent with foil.

3

Bacon

Lay bacon strips (4) in a cold skillet, then place over medium heat. Cook 3–5 minutes per side until crispness desired. Transfer to paper towels to drain and keep warm.

4

Ham steak

Heat a skillet over medium-high and add 1 tsp oil or butter. Sear ham steak (4 oz) 1.5–2 minutes per side until browned and heated through. Remove and keep warm.

Hash Browns

5

While protein cooks, heat a separate nonstick or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tbsp oil or butter and let it shimmer. Add 1 cup shredded hash browns, spread into an even layer, and press lightly with a spatula. Season with 1 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper.

6

Cook undisturbed 4–5 minutes until the bottom is golden and crisp. Flip in sections (or invert onto a plate and slide back into the pan) and cook another 3–4 minutes until the other side is crisp and potatoes are cooked through. Reduce heat to low and keep warm, or transfer to plate and tent with foil if needed.

Eggs

7

Use the same skillet used for the protein (wipe out excess fat if necessary) or a clean nonstick skillet. Add 1 tsp butter or oil and heat over medium-low. Crack 2 eggs into a small bowl then gently slide into the skillet.

8

For sunny-side-up: cook undisturbed 3–4 minutes until whites are set and yolks still runny; cover the pan for 30–60 seconds to finish whites if needed. For over-easy: cook 2–3 minutes until whites are mostly set, flip gently and cook 20–30 seconds. For scrambled: whisk eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper, pour into pan, let set slightly, then stir gently until soft curds form, 1–2 minutes.

9

Season eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. Transfer eggs to the plate with kept-warm protein and hash browns.

Toast

10

Toast 2 slices of bread to desired doneness using a toaster or under a broiler for 1–2 minutes per side, watching carefully. Spread with 1 tsp butter while warm.

Plating & serving

11

Arrange the chosen protein, 2 eggs, a portion of hash browns and the buttered toast on a plate. Garnish hash browns with chopped parsley if using and serve ketchup or hot sauce on the side. Serve immediately.
