Leuven, Belgium (5% abv) crisp, fruity, dry

In a large pot, bring 2000 ml of water to a boil. Once boiling, add 400 g of barley malt and stir well. Allow the mixture to steep for about 60 minutes at a temperature of 65°C (149°F).

Prepare the Mash

After the mash has steeped, drain the liquid (wort) from the grains into another pot. Rinse the grains with additional hot water to extract as much sugar as possible.

Lautering

Bring the collected wort to a boil and add 15 g of hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding the corn or rice adjuncts halfway through the boil for additional fermentable sugars.

Boiling the Wort

Once the boil is complete, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches around 20°C (68°F).

Cooling the Wort

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel and add 11 g of yeast along with 1 tsp of lemon zest for added flavor. Seal the vessel with an airlock and let it ferment for about 1-2 weeks at a steady temperature.

Fermentation

Once fermentation is complete, siphon the beer into sanitized bottles, leaving some space at the top. Cap the bottles and let them condition at room temperature for another week.

Bottling

After conditioning, chill the bottles in the refrigerator. Serve cold and enjoy your homemade Stella Artois!
