Lemonade Base
Rodizio-Style Flavor Boost
Optional Garnish & Sparkle
Method
Prepare Lemonade Base
Juice and dissolve
In a large pitcher, combine 1 cup fresh lemon juice and 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (or 3 tbsp simple syrup). Stir vigorously until the sugar is fully dissolved. If using granulated sugar and it resists dissolving, warm 1/2 cup of the water, dissolve the sugar in the warm water, then add the syrup back to the pitcher.
Add the remaining 3.5 cups of cold water to the pitcher (reserve about 1 cup if you plan to top with club soda) and stir to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness: add up to 1 tablespoon more sugar or syrup if needed.
Refrigerate the base while preparing flavor components for at least 10 minutes so flavors marry, or proceed immediately if serving over plenty of ice.
Make Rodizio-Style Flavor Boost
Muddle mint and citrus
Place 10β12 fresh mint leaves into a small bowl or mortar. Zest the lime and orange over the leaves (about 1/2 teaspoon zest total). Add the zest and gently muddle the mint with the zest using a muddler or the back of a spoon for about 10β15 seconds β release aromatic oils but avoid shredding the mint to bitter pulp.
Add ginger and seasoning
Add 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger, a pinch of sea salt, and a pinch of freshly cracked black pepper to the muddled mint mixture. Briefly press to combine; the salt and pepper will heighten the citrus and give a subtle savory edge reminiscent of Rodizio seasoning.
Squeeze the juice from the zested lime into the mint mixture, then scrape everything (mint, zest, ginger, salt, pepper, and lime juice) into the chilled lemonade base. Stir thoroughly to incorporate.
Taste and adjust: if the ginger is too strong, add a little more cold water or ice. If acidity needs balancing, add 1 teaspoon honey or another tablespoon of simple syrup.
Chill, Finish & Serve
Fill four serving glasses with ice (about 1 cup ice per glass). Pour the lemonade mixture evenly over the ice, splitting the pitcher among the glasses.
If you want effervescence, top each glass with about 1/4 cup club soda or sparkling water (total about 1 cup). Gently stir once to combine.
Serve immediately. Leftover lemonade (without ice) keeps covered in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours; add club soda only at service to preserve fizz.
