Method
Prepare Glass
Chill glass
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to thoroughly chill.
Mix Cocktail
Add 2 oz premium vodka, 0.75 oz triple sec, 1 oz sweet and sour mix and 1 oz fresh passion fruit puree into a cocktail shaker.
If you prefer a slightly sweeter drink (optional), add 0.25 oz simple syrup to the shaker. This compensates for particularly tart passion fruit puree.
Fill the shaker with ice (about 6 standard cubes). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is very cold and the mixture is well integrated.
Finish & Serve
Discard ice or water from the chilled glass and double-strain the shaken cocktail into the glass using both the shaker strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove pulp and seeds if you prefer a smoother texture.
Carefully add a splash (about 0.25 oz) of cranberry juice over the back of a spoon so it sits lightly on top or mixes gently into the drink to create a subtle color contrast.
Optional: For a more visual presentation, float half a teaspoon of passion fruit seeds or a half shell of passion fruit atop the drink.
Serve immediately.
