Cocktail Base

Method

Prep

1

Chill glassware

Place a large wine glass or a Copa glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes to chill while you prepare ingredients.

2

Thinly slice cucumber and green apple. Halve the grapes. Juice one small lime to yield approximately 1 tablespoon.

Build the Cocktail

3

Remove the chilled glass from the freezer. Add the ice cubes to fill the glass about halfway (approximately 1 cup).

4

Add the cucumber slices, green apple slices, and halved grapes into the glass, gently pressing them against the inside so they flavor the drink but do not block sipping.

5

Pour 1.5 cups (12 fl oz) of chilled dry white wine into the glass over the fruit and ice.

6

Add 1 tablespoon elderflower liqueur, 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice, and 1 teaspoon simple syrup to the wine. Stir gently once to combine without overly agitating the bubbles.

7

Top with 1/2 cup (4 fl oz) chilled sparkling water (or club soda) to add lift and effervescence. Stir gently twice to integrate.

Garnish & Serve

8

Slap the mint leaves briefly between your palms to release aroma and tuck them into the glass alongside a lime wheel on the rim.

9

If desired, finish with a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt on top of the drink to brighten flavors. Serve immediately with a long stirring spoon or straw.
