Preparation Steps
Prepare the Chicken
Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. While the skillet heats, season the chicken breasts generously with blackening seasoning on both sides.
Cook the Chicken
Once the skillet is hot, add the seasoned chicken breasts. Cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each breast to melt.
Prepare the Buns
While the chicken is cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on a separate skillet or toaster until golden brown.
Assemble the Sandwich
Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place the blackened chicken with melted cheese on top, followed by a layer of shredded lettuce and slices of tomato. Finally, top with the other half of the bun.
Serve
Serve immediately with your favorite side.
