Ingredients for Fried Calamari
Method
Preparation Directions
Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
Make the Coating
In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix well.
Dip in Buttermilk
Place the calamari rings into a separate bowl and pour the buttermilk over them, ensuring they are well-coated.
Coat the Calamari
Take each calamari ring and dredge it in the flour mixture, shaking off excess flour.
Heat the Oil
In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Calamari
Fry the calamari in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried calamari from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with lemon wedges and marinara sauce on the side.
