OLD FASHIONED

Place the bottle of Global Vallemayor Rioja Blanco in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving so it reaches approximately 8–10°C (46–50°F). If short on time, chill in an ice bath (water + ice) for 20–30 minutes.

Chill the bottle

Select a clean white wine glass or large stemmed glass. If you prefer your wine very cold, place the glass in the fridge for 10–15 minutes or rinse with cold water and let drain.

Prepare glassware

Add 4–6 ice cubes to the decanter or pitcher only if you want an extra-cold serving or are preparing a small wine spritz. Note: traditional wine is not served over ice, but Rioja Blanco's fresh, young character can be enjoyed slightly chilled with ice in casual settings.

Open the bottle: remove the foil and use a corkscrew to remove the cork. Wipe the bottle lip with a clean cloth to remove any residue.

Pour wine into the decanter or directly into the glass: Fill each glass to about one-third full (approximately 120–150 ml per serving) to allow aromas to concentrate. If using the optional pitcher with ice, pour 120–150 ml into each glass, leaving ice in the pitcher to avoid diluting the served wine.

Optional spritz: For a light spritz, top each 120–150 ml glass with about 60 ml sparkling water and gently stir once with a bar spoon to combine. This creates a refreshing, slightly effervescent serve that highlights the wine's youthful freshness.

Garnish and finish: Squeeze the lemon or lime wedge lightly over the glass and drop the wedge in (optional). Add a mint sprig for aroma if desired. Serve immediately.

Tasting: Note the wine's youthful, fresh, dry profile—aromas of citrus, green apple, and light floral or herbal notes. Sip slowly to appreciate acidity and clean finish.

Leftovers: Reseal the bottle with its cork or a wine stopper and refrigerate. Consume within 2–3 days for best freshness. If you added sparkling water, consume immediately.
