Rib Steak Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps the steak cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the ribeye steak with olive oil on both sides. Sprinkle salt, black pepper, and garlic powder evenly all over the steak. Press the seasonings into the meat for better adherence.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over high heat for about 5-10 minutes until it's very hot. If using a skillet, a cast-iron skillet is recommended for best results.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned ribeye steak on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to achieve a nice sear.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Butter

Flip the steak and add the tablespoon of butter and fresh rosemary to the pan. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, basting the steak with the melted butter and rosemary as it cooks.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, it should read about 130°F (54°C).

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice the ribeye steak against the grain and serve with your choice of sides.
