Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Roast
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Take the prime rib roast out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to an hour to ensure even cooking.
- 2
Season the Roast
In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, minced garlic, and chopped fresh rosemary. Rub the olive oil all over the roast and then generously apply the seasoning mixture, ensuring it covers all sides of the meat.
- 3
Sear the Roast
Place the seasoned prime rib roast on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Sear the roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to create a nice crust.
- 4
Add Broth and Adjust Temperature
After 20 minutes, lower the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and add the beef broth to the bottom of the roasting pan. This will help keep the meat moist while roasting.
- 5
Roast the Meat
Continue roasting the prime rib for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes for medium-rare, or until the internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C). Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature accurately.
- 6
Rest the Roast
Once cooked, remove the roast from the oven and tent it loosely with aluminum foil. Allow it to rest for at least 20 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute for a more tender bite.
- 7
Slice and Serve
After resting, slice the roast against the grain into thick slices. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
