Method
Prep
Bring cheese to temperature
Remove the délice de Bourgogne from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to 1 hour so it becomes soft and spreadable.
Wash and dry fruit
Rinse the grapes and (optional) strawberries under cold water. Pat dry thoroughly on paper towels. Remove grapes from stems into small clusters or individual grapes depending on presentation preference.
Bread
Warm the baguette
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the baguette on a slight diagonal into 1/2-inch slices, leaving the loaf whole if you prefer. Place slices on a baking sheet. Lightly brush each side with olive oil (about 1 tablespoon total) and sprinkle with a little cracked black pepper if desired. Warm in the oven for 6–8 minutes until lightly crisp and warmed but not hard. Alternatively, wrap the whole loaf in foil and warm for 8–10 minutes.
Assembly
Choose a wooden board or large platter. Place the softened délice in a central location on the board. Leave it whole for spreading or cut into wedges for easy serving.
Fan or fold the prosciutto into ribbons and arrange it in one or two piles near the cheese so guests can take slices easily.
Spoon the strawberry preserves into a small bowl or ramekin and place it on the board near the cheese. If the preserves are very thick, microwave the ramekin for 10–15 seconds to loosen for easier spreading.
Arrange grapes in small clusters around the board. If using strawberries, halve or quarter them and arrange artistically.
Place the warm baguette slices in a stack or fanned arrangement on the board or in a small basket beside it.
Scatter toasted nuts (if using) in a small bowl or directly on the board for crunch and place herb sprigs for visual contrast.
Finish with a light drizzle of honey over a wedge of délice or in a small dish for dipping, and a final crack of black pepper over the cheese and prosciutto if desired.
Service
Provide small spreading knives and cocktail picks so guests can spread cheese, spoon preserves onto bread, and pick grapes or prosciutto. Recommend pairing with a light white wine or rosé.
