Mixed Berries

Method

Mixed Berries

1

Prepare berries

Rinse all berries gently under cold running water. Place them in a large colander and let drain for 5–10 minutes. Pat strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries gently with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

2

Hull and slice strawberries

Remove stems from strawberries. If strawberries are larger than bite-size (about 1 inch/2.5 cm or larger), slice them into halves or quarters so all berries are similar in size.

3

Combine

Place strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries in a medium mixing bowl and toss gently to combine without crushing delicate berries.

Optional finishing & dressing

4

Make dressing

In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, sugar, and honey or maple syrup until sugar dissolves. Stir in the chopped mint, orange zest (if using), and a pinch of sea salt. Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity to preference.

5

Dress berries

Drizzle the dressing over the mixed berries and toss gently with a large spoon or spatula to coat evenly. Let sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes to allow flavors to meld (or refrigerate for up to 30 minutes if serving chilled).

6

Serve

Transfer berries to individual bowls or a serving dish. Garnish with a few whole mint leaves and extra orange zest if desired. Serve on their own or as a topping for yogurt, pancakes, oatmeal, or desserts.
