Citrus Juices (choose one or more, optional)

Herbal & Aromatic Additions (optional)

Method

Choose and Prepare Base Juice

1

Select base

Decide which juice or combination of juices best complements the dish you are serving. For bright, acidic pairings choose fresh orange or grapefruit. For sweet or milder dishes choose apple or pear. For earthy or savory dishes consider carrot or pomegranate.

2

If using citrus, squeeze fresh fruit and strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a measuring cup to remove pulp and seeds. Measure 1 cup total juice per serving batch (adjust quantity by servings). If combining juices, keep total volume approximately 1 cup.

Balance and Flavoring

3

Taste the base juice and adjust acidity and sweetness. If too tart, stir in up to 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup and re-taste. If too sweet, add 1–2 teaspoons lemon or lime juice.

4

For a subtle aromatic lift, add grated ginger (about 1 tablespoon) to the juice and let steep 5 minutes, then strain out solids.

5

For herbal notes, gently clap fresh mint or basil leaves between your palms to release oils and add them directly to the juice. Allow to steep 3–5 minutes, then remove or leave in for presentation.

Chill, Sparkle, and Serve

6

Fill a serving glass with ice (about 1 cup). Pour 3/4 cup of prepared juice over the ice.

7

Top with 1/4 cup sparkling water for a light effervescence. Stir gently once to combine.

8

Garnish with a citrus wheel, a few pomegranate arils, and/or a sprig of mint or basil as desired. For savory pairings, add a celery stalk to the glass.

9

Serve immediately. Offer additional sweetener, lemon/lime wedges, or sparkling water on the side so guests can further customize.

Notes and Substitutions

10

Quantities above make approximately 1 serving (about 1 cup before sparkling). Scale ingredients linearly to match the number of servings required.

11

Use unsweetened juices for more control over balance. Bottled juices are acceptable in a pinch but fresh-squeezed yields brighter flavor.

12

For a mocktail-style pairing, increase sparkling water to 1/2 cup and reduce base juice to 1/2 cup for a lighter sip.
