- 1
Chill glass
Place an old-fashioned glass or rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes, or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink to chill it.
- 2
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass, add 3 large ice cubes, then pour in 2 oz scotch, 0.75 oz sweet vermouth, 0.25 oz dry vermouth, and 0.25 oz Drambuie.
- 3
Bitters
Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters and 1 dash of orange bitters to the mixing glass.
- 4
Stir
Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently but thoroughly for 30–45 seconds (about 20–30 full rotations) until well chilled and properly diluted (roughly 15–20% dilution). The mixture should be cold and have slight sheen from dilution.
- 5
Prepare serving glass
Discard the ice water from the chilled glass if used and strain any residual water. Place one large clear ice cube or sphere into the chilled rocks glass.
- 6
Strain
Strain the stirred cocktail from the mixing glass into the prepared rocks glass over the large ice cube.

- 8
Serve
Serve immediately. Recommend sipping slowly to enjoy the layered Scotch, vermouth, and honey-herbal notes from the Drambuie.
