Brewing Process
1. Step 1: Prepare the Malt
In a large pot, heat 1000 ml of water to approximately 65°C (149°F). Add 150 g of malted barley and stir well. Allow the mixture to steep for 30 minutes.
2. Step 2: Add Hops
After steeping, bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, add 10 g of hops and continue to boil for 60 minutes while stirring occasionally.
3. Step 3: Cool the Wort
Once the boiling time is complete, cool the mixture quickly using an immersion chiller or by placing the pot in an ice bath until it reaches room temperature.
4. Step 4: Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Add 5 g of yeast and mix gently. Seal the vessel with an airlock and let it ferment at room temperature for about 5 days.
5. Step 5: Add Flavoring
After fermentation, add 2 ml of natural flavoring and 5 g of caramel color (if using) to achieve the desired color and flavor profile. Mix gently.
6. Step 6: Carbonation
To carbonate the beverage, you can either force carbonate using a CO2 tank or add a small amount of sugar to the mixture and bottle it, allowing it to naturally carbonate over a few days.
7. Step 7: Chill and Serve
Once carbonated, chill the Heineken 0.0 in the refrigerator before serving. Serve in a chilled glass and enjoy responsibly.
