Cooking the Oatmeal

Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of rolled oats, 2 cups of water, and 1 teaspoon of salt.

Boil

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.

Add Raisins

Once boiling, stir in 0.5 cups of raisins.

Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and simmer uncovered for about 5-10 minutes, or until the oatmeal is thick and creamy, stirring occasionally.

Serving the Oatmeal

Prepare Toppings

While the oatmeal is cooking, prepare your choice of toast, biscuits, English muffin, or fruit.

Serve

Once the oatmeal is cooked, remove from heat and serve hot in bowls.

Add Milk and Sugar

Top each bowl with 0.5 cups of milk and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, adjusting to taste.
