Wine Information & Serving
1. Storage before serving
Store the Rijckaert Bourgogne Blanc 2023 upright in a cool, dark place (50–59°F / 10–15°C) if you won’t open it the same day. For short-term chilling (2–3 hours before serving), place the bottle in the refrigerator.
2. Optimal serving temperature
Serve chilled but not ice-cold. The ideal temperature for a Burgundy Chardonnay is about 50–54°F (10–12°C). If the bottle is refrigerated (around 38–45°F / 3–7°C), remove it 10–20 minutes before serving to warm slightly. If stored at cellar temperature, chill for 20–30 minutes in an ice bucket with a 2:1 ice-to-water ratio.
3. Opening the bottle
Use a waiter’s corkscrew. Cut and remove the foil neatly, center the screw in the cork and twist down smoothly. Pull the cork out with steady upward pressure. Wipe the bottle lip with a clean cloth or napkin to remove any sediment or cork fragments.
4. Decanting (optional)
This 2023 Bourgogne Blanc is generally ready to drink and typically does not require decanting. If you prefer to aerate it slightly, gently pour about half the bottle into a clean decanter and let it sit for 10–20 minutes before serving. Avoid aggressive swirling to preserve delicate aromas.
5. Pouring
Hold the glass by the stem and pour about 4–5 oz (120–150 ml) per pour, filling roughly one-third of a standard white-wine glass to allow room for aromas. Wipe the bottle lip after each pour to prevent drips.
6. Glassware and tasting notes
Use a tulip-shaped white wine glass or a Burgundy glass for fuller aroma concentration. Swirl gently, sniff to identify notes of citrus, stone fruit, subtle minerality, and toasted oak (if present), then taste, noting acidity, body, and finish.
Optional Pairing & Garnish
7. Garnish (optional)
If a touch of citrus is desired, serve a single thin lemon wedge on the side of each glass so guests can decide whether to add a hint of lemon. Do not squeeze into the wine by default — let guests add if they like.
8. Serving with food
Pair this Bourgogne Blanc with light hors d'oeuvres: spread goat cheese on toasted baguette slices and top with cracked pepper, serve chilled steamed shellfish (mussels, clams) with a light butter-lemon drizzle, or present fresh oysters with mignonette on the side. Offer small plates so guests can alternate sips of water to cleanse the palate.
9. Storing leftover wine
Recork remaining wine (use original cork or a wine stopper). Refrigerate leftover bottle upright; consume within 3–5 days for best quality. If you expect to keep it longer, consider a vacuum wine preserver or inert gas wine preserver.
