Method

Preparation Directions

1

Prepare the Souffle Dish

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Generously butter the ramekins and dust them with granulated sugar, shaking off the excess.

2

Make the Base

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute. Slowly whisk in the milk and cook until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in the Gran Marnier, vanilla extract, and egg yolks. Mix until smooth.

3

Whip the Egg Whites

In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually add in the granulated sugar while continuing to beat until glossy.

4

Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the base mixture until fully incorporated, being careful not to deflate the egg whites.

5

Bake the Souffles

Spoon the mixture into the prepared ramekins, filling them about three-quarters full. Place the ramekins in a baking dish and fill the dish with hot water halfway up the sides of the ramekins. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until puffed and golden.

6

Serve

Remove from the oven, dust with powdered sugar, and serve immediately.
