Method
Proteins
- 1
Cook sausage patties
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage patties and cook 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through (internal temp 160°F/71°C). Transfer to a plate and keep warm.
- 2
Cook steak
If using thin steak slices or Canadian steak, season lightly with 1/8 tsp black pepper and a pinch of salt. In the same skillet over medium-high heat, add a touch of oil if needed and sear steak slices 1–2 minutes per side until browned and warmed through. Remove and keep warm with the sausage.

Carb & Potato
- 4
Prepare smashed browns
If using pre-cooked shredded potatoes, shape 1 cup into a compact patty about 3–4 inches across. Heat a skillet over medium heat with 1 tbs vegetable oil. Add the smashed brown patty and press gently with a spatula. Cook 4–5 minutes per side until crisp and golden. Season both sides with 1/8 tsp salt and a pinch of pepper. Keep warm.

Assemble sandwich
On the bottom half of the toasted bun, place the cheesy sausage patty (or steak), then the smashed brown patty, then the cooked egg if using. Add the top protein (if stacking both sausage and steak, place second protein on top of egg or potato as preferred). Add condiments to taste (ketchup, mustard, mayo or hot sauce). Sprinkle optional chopped parsley or chives.
- 8
Finish & serve
Close the sandwich, press gently, slice in half if desired, and serve immediately while hot.
Seasoning & Notes
- 9
Taste and adjust seasoning. Use the remaining salt and pepper to season each component to taste. For a quicker version, use pre-cooked sausage patties and frozen smashed-brown patties heated according to package instructions.
