Cocktail
Garnish & optional
Method
Prepare glass (optional sugar rim)
Sugar rim (optional)
If you want a sugared rim, pour the granulated sugar onto a small plate. Rub the lemon wedge around the outer rim of a chilled martini or coupe glass to moisten it, then dip the rim into the sugar and twist to coat evenly. Set the glass aside to dry briefly.
Mix cocktail
Measure and combine
Add citron vodka (2 oz), Cointreau (1/2 oz), fresh lemon juice (1/2 oz) and pomegranate juice (1.5 oz) into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice
Fill the shaker with ice cubes (about 6 standard cubes) so the liquid is well chilled and can be diluted slightly.
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes very cold and slightly frosted. This chills and lightly dilutes the cocktail for balance.
Double-strain and serve
If desired, double-strain through a julep or fine mesh strainer into the prepared chilled martini or coupe glass to remove ice shards and any pulp from the pomegranate juice.
Garnish
Express the orange twist over the drink (pinch it so oils spray over the surface), then drop or rest the twist on the rim of the glass as a garnish.
