Method
Preparing the Barrel
Clean the Barrel
Before using the small oak barrel, rinse it with warm water to remove any dust or residues.
Soak the Barrel
Fill the barrel with warm water and let it soak for at least 24 hours to ensure it is properly hydrated and will not leak.
Mixing the Cocktail
Combine Ingredients
In a mixing glass, measure out 2 oz of RARE Aged Olive Gin, 1 oz of Carpano Antica Vermouth, and 1 oz of Contratto Bitter.
Stir the Mixture
Add ice to the mixing glass and stir gently for about 30 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and combined.
Transfer to Barrel
Carefully pour the mixed ingredients into the prepared small oak barrel.
Aging
Seal and Store
Seal the barrel tightly and store it in a cool, dark place. Allow the cocktail to age for a minimum of 2 weeks for optimal flavor development.
Serving the Cocktail
Prepare the Glass
After the aging period, prepare your cocktail glass by chilling it with ice or whiskey stones.
Strain the Cocktail
Open the barrel and use a strainer to pour the aged Negroni into the prepared cocktail glass, discarding any sediment.
Garnish (optional)
If desired, garnish with an orange twist or a slice of orange to enhance the presentation and aroma.
