Cocktail Preparation

1

Measure and combine

Add 0.25 oz simple syrup to an Old Fashioned glass. Add 3 dashes cherry bitters and 1 dash Angostura bitters (if using) to the glass.

2

Add bourbon

Measure 2 oz of your chosen bourbon with a jigger and pour it into the glass over the bitters and syrup.

3

Stir and chill

Add one large ice cube or several medium ice cubes to the glass. Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for 20–30 seconds until the drink is well chilled and slightly diluted (you should see slight cloudiness and the glass become cold).

4

Garnish and finish

Express an orange peel over the glass by holding the peel with the outer skin facing down and giving it a firm twist above the drink to release oils. Rub the peel around the rim, then drop it into the glass. Skewer or drop a Luxardo or maraschino cherry into the drink as garnish.

Serving

5

Serve immediately on the rocks in the Old Fashioned glass. Provide a stirrer or straw if desired.
