Frozen Margaritas

Frozen Swirls (Margarita-Hurricane Swirl)

Method

Frozen Margaritas

1

Prep and Rim

Place coarse salt on a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each serving glass, then dip the rim into the salt to coat. Set glasses aside in the freezer for 5 minutes to firm the rim.

2

Blend

In a high-speed blender combine 8 fl oz blanco tequila, 4 fl oz triple sec, 4 fl oz fresh lime juice, 2 fl oz simple syrup and 6 cups ice. Blend on high until smooth and slushy, about 30–45 seconds. Stop and scrape down the blender once if needed; texture should be scoopable but pourable.

3

Adjust Sweetness & Texture

Taste and adjust: if too tart, add up to 0.5 fl oz simple syrup and blend briefly; if too thick, add 1–2 tbsp (15–30 ml) cold water and pulse to combine.

4

Serve

Spoon or pour the frozen margarita into the prepared salted glasses. Garnish each with a lime wedge. Serve immediately with a straw and short spoon.

Frozen Hurricanes

5

Blend the Hurricane Base

In a high-speed blender combine 6 fl oz dark rum, 2 fl oz white rum, 4 fl oz passion fruit syrup (or puree), 4 fl oz fresh orange juice, 2 fl oz fresh lime juice, 1 fl oz grenadine and 6 cups ice. Blend on high until the mixture is thick and slushy, about 30–50 seconds. Pause and check consistency; scrape down sides as needed.

6

Adjust Flavor & Texture

Taste the blend: if it's too sweet, add 0.5 fl oz fresh lime juice and pulse; if too tart, add 0.5 fl oz simple syrup or more passion fruit syrup. If too thick, add 1–2 tbsp cold water and blend briefly.

7

Serve

Pour or spoon the frozen hurricane into chilled hurricane glasses. Garnish each with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry. Serve immediately with a straw and cocktail pick.

Frozen Swirls (Margarita-Hurricane Swirl)

8

Prepare Components

Make both the frozen margarita and frozen hurricane according to their directions. Keep both slightly firmer than pourable—this helps create a defined swirl rather than fully mixing.

9

Layering (Two-Color Swirl)

Choose a tall chilled glass. Using a large spoon, spoon 3 fl oz of the margarita into one side of the glass, then spoon 3 fl oz of the hurricane into the other side. Repeat gently to create two stacked layers until glass is nearly full (approximately 6 fl oz of each component per serving).

10

Create the Swirl

Take a long cocktail spoon or skewer and gently draw a shallow ‘S’ motion through the contents once or twice—do not stir vigorously, or the colors will fully mix. The goal is a marbled swirl.

11

Garnish & Serve

Garnish with one lime wheel and one orange wheel on the rim. Serve immediately with two straws so guests can taste each component separately or together.
