Tequila Añejo Serving
Garnish & Tools
Method
Tequila Añejo Serving
- 1
Chill glass
Place the rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill briefly with ice water to chill. Empty the glass before proceeding.
- 2
Prepare ice
If using a large cube or sphere, ensure it is fully frozen and dry. Drop the single large ice cube or sphere into the chilled rocks glass.
- 3
Measure tequila
Pour 2 oz of Añejo tequila over the large ice cube. Use a jigger for accuracy.
- 4
Add bitters and optional water
Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters onto the surface of the tequila. If you prefer a touch of dilution to open the aroma, add 1 tsp of room-temperature water or use a few gentle stirs with a bar spoon (4–6 revolutions).
- 5
Express orange peel
Using a peeler or paring knife, cut a 1-inch strip of orange peel (avoid too much pith). Hold the peel over the glass with the outer skin facing down and give it a quick, firm squeeze to express oils onto the tequila surface. Run the peel around the rim, then drop it into the glass as garnish.
- 6
Serve
Present immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the complex aromas and flavors of the Añejo tequila.
