Strawberry Base

Method

Strawberry Base

1

Prepare strawberries

Hull and roughly chop 6 fresh strawberries. Place them in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass.

2

Muddle

Add 0.75 oz simple syrup, 0.5 oz lemon juice, and 0.25 oz lime juice to the strawberries. Muddle firmly until the fruit is broken down and the mixture is pulpy and juicy (about 20–30 seconds).

3

Double-strain

Fill the shaker with ice, cap it, and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds to chill. Strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer (or a Hawthorne + fine strainer) into a chilled highball or Collins glass to remove seeds and pulp, leaving about 2 inches of free space for soda.

Cocktail Build

4

Add ice

Top the strained mixture in the glass with fresh ice (enough to nearly fill the glass).

5

Top with soda

Gently pour 3 oz soda water over the back of a spoon or directly into the glass to preserve effervescence. Stir once gently (2–3 slow turns) to combine without flattening the soda.

6

Garnish & serve

Garnish with a sliced strawberry on the rim, a lime wheel or twist, and an optional mint sprig. Serve immediately with a straw or stirring stick.
