Method
Muddle & Mix
Muddle mint
Place 6 fresh mint leaves and the simple syrup (if using) into a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Gently press and twist the mint with a muddler or the back of a spoon 6–8 times to release the oils — do not pulverize into a paste.
Add spirits and juices
Add 2 oz Grey Goose Watermelon Basil vodka, 1/2 oz Cointreau, 2 oz cranberry juice, and 3/4 oz fresh lime juice to the shaker with the muddled mint.
Ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.
Finish & Serve
Strain
If you prefer minimal mint leaves in the glass, double-strain the cocktail into a chilled Collins or highball glass filled with fresh crushed ice or ice cubes. Otherwise, single strain and let a few mint fragments through for aroma.
Top (optional)
If you like a lighter, more effervescent drink, top with about 1 oz club soda and gently stir once to combine.
Garnish and present
Slap the remaining mint sprig between your palms to release its aroma and place it in the drink along with a lime wheel (and optional watermelon wedge). Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
