Method
Tea
Boil water
Measure 2 cups of fresh cold water and pour into a kettle or saucepan. Bring the water to the appropriate temperature: for black tea bring to a rolling boil (about 212°F / 100°C); for green tea heat just below boiling (about 175–185°F / 80–85°C); for most herbal teas bring to a rolling boil.
Steep tea bag
Place 1 tea bag in a mug. Pour the hot water over the tea bag so it is fully submerged. Steep for the recommended time: 3–5 minutes for black tea, 2–3 minutes for green tea, and 5–7 minutes for herbal tea. Adjust steeping time to taste (longer = stronger).
Serve
Taste and adjust sweetness or milk. Serve immediately while hot.
