Method

Cocktail

1

Build and chill

Fill a large wine glass or Collins glass about three-quarters full with ice (about 1 cup). This chills the glass and keeps the spritz bright.

2

Measure and combine

Pour 2 fl oz vodka, 1 fl oz Aperol, 0.5 fl oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 fl oz simple syrup over the ice in the glass.

3

Top with Fresca

Gently pour 3 fl oz Fresca (or grapefruit-lime soda) over the spirit mixture. Pour slowly to preserve carbonation and create a layered look.

4

Stir

Using a long bar spoon, stir gently once or twice to integrate the Aperol and citrus with the Fresca without flattening the soda.

Garnish

5

Thread a grapefruit wheel onto the rim or float it on top of the drink and lightly slap the mint sprig between your palms to release its aroma, then nestle it into the glass.
