1

Prepare the glass

Run a grapefruit or lime wedge around the rim of a highball or Collins glass. Pour the salt onto a small plate, then dip and turn the moistened rim into the salt to coat lightly. Fill the glass with ice and set aside.

2

Mix the base

In a cocktail shaker, add the reposado tequila (2 oz), fresh grapefruit juice (2 oz), fresh lime juice (1/2 oz), and simple syrup (1/2 oz). Fill the shaker with ice, cap it, and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well chilled.

3

Assemble the drink

Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared iced glass. Top with grapefruit soda (about 2 oz) to add effervescence. Gently stir once with a bar spoon to combine, taking care not to over-dilute or lose carbonation.

4

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a grapefruit wedge or wheel and an optional lime wheel. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
