Amaro Base

Mixing & Balance

Method

Amaro Base

1

Measure

Measure 2 oz Braulio amaro into a jigger or measuring tool.

Mixing & Balance

2

Combine Ingredients

In a mixing glass filled with plenty of ice, pour 2 oz Braulio, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 0.5 oz dry (or blanc) vermouth, and add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.

3

Stir

Stir the mixture for 30–40 seconds (about 20–30 full rotations) until well-chilled and slightly diluted. Aim for a dilution of roughly 20–25 ml (this timing will vary with ice and glassware).

4

Strain

Double-strain (or fine-strain if using crushed/small ice) the cocktail into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass.

Garnish

5

Express & Garnish

Take an orange twist, hold it over the glass and gently express the oils by pinching or giving it a short snap so the oils spray over the surface. Rub the rim with the peel if desired, then drop the twist into the cocktail as a garnish.
