Finishing & service

Preparation

Brew & prepare concentrates

1. Brew double-strength green tea

Measure loose green tea or strong green tea bags (about 2–3 tsp / 2 bags for 100 ml). Steep in ~100 ml near‑boiling water for 2–3 minutes for a concentrated brew. Remove leaves/bags and cool to room temperature (or chill briefly).

2. Prepare espresso/strong coffee

Pull a 30 ml espresso shot or brew 30 ml of very strong coffee. Let it cool slightly so it won't heat the mixture.

3. Measure liquid additives

Measure 250 ml filtered cold water, 15 ml fresh lime juice, 5 ml liquid B-complex and 2 ml ginseng extract (if using). Keep them ready.

Make simple syrup

4. Combine sugar and warm water

Place 40 g granulated sugar and 40 ml warm (not boiling) water in a small saucepan or heatproof container. Stir until the sugar fully dissolves to make a clear simple syrup. Cool to room temperature. (You will use ~40 ml of this syrup in the recipe; extra can be refrigerated for later.)

Dissolve powders & build the base

5. Dissolve taurine and citric acid

In a small bowl or measuring cup, combine 1 g taurine powder, 0.5 g citric acid and 0.25 g fine salt. Add about 15–25 ml of the cooled filtered water and stir vigorously until the powders are fully dissolved (use a small whisk or spoon). This creates a concentrated functional blend that dissolves easily into the drink.

6. Combine base liquids

In a mixing vessel (shaker or large measuring jug), add the remaining filtered water (about 235 ml of the 250 ml reserved), 100 ml cooled double-strength green tea, the 30 ml espresso, 15 ml fresh lime juice, 5 ml B-complex and 2 ml ginseng extract. Add 40 ml of the cooled simple syrup and the dissolved taurine/citric acid/salt mixture. Stir or roll gently for 10–15 seconds to combine thoroughly and taste for balance — it should be bright, sweet-but-tart, slightly bitter from tea/coffee and lightly salty to enhance flavor.

7. Adjust sweetness / acidity (optional)

If the mixture is too sweet, add up to 5–10 ml more water. If it needs more brightness, add a pinch more citric acid (a few tenths of a gram) or 2–3 ml extra lime juice. Keep adjustments small — you're concentrating flavors for a 500 ml beverage.

Chill, carbonate & serve

8. Chill mixture

If the combined base is warm, chill in the refrigerator or an ice bath until cool (5–10 minutes). Cold base keeps carbonation and mouthfeel crisp when you add soda.

9. Add carbonation

Fill a tall glass or serving bottle with 1 cup ice (if serving on the rocks) or chill the glass. Pour the chilled base slowly into the glass, then gently top with 50 ml chilled carbonated water / club soda. Stir once gently with a bar spoon to incorporate — do not overmix as that will flatten the carbonation.

10. Garnish & serve

Garnish with a lime wheel if desired. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.

11. Notes & safety

This recipe contains caffeine (from green tea and espresso) and 1 g taurine per serving. Estimated caffeine is roughly 80–120 mg depending on tea and coffee strength. Adjust caffeine and taurine to personal tolerance and consult health guidance if pregnant, nursing, under 18, or with medical conditions.
