Method
Guacamole Base
- 1
Prepare avocados
Cut avocados in half lengthwise, remove pits, and scoop flesh into a medium mixing bowl.
- 2
Add salt and lime
Sprinkle 1 tsp kosher salt over the avocado, then add 2 tbsp fresh lime juice. The lime brightens flavor and helps slow browning.
- 3
- 4
Fold in tomato
Gently fold in the seeded, finely diced tomato until evenly distributed, taking care not to overwork the avocado to keep it from becoming watery.

- 6
Store briefly (optional)
Transfer guacamole to a serving bowl. If not serving immediately, press a piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface of the guacamole to limit air contact and refrigerate up to 2 hours.
- 7
Serve with thin tortilla chips and lime wedges alongside. Offer jalapeño/onion/cilantro mix-ins separately if allowing guests to build their own traditional guacamole.
