Method

Drink

  1. 1

    Prepare the orange juice

Roll the fresh oranges on the counter with your palm to loosen the juice. Cut the oranges in half and using a citrus reamer or juicer, squeeze until you have about 120 ml (roughly 3 medium oranges). Strain the juice through a fine mesh if you prefer a smoother texture (optional).

  2. 2

    Chill the glass (optional)

If you like a colder drink, fill the highball glass with ice water while you prepare the juice. Discard the ice water before building the cocktail.

  3. 3

    Build the cocktail

Add 4 ice cubes to the empty highball glass. Pour 50 ml vodka over the ice, then add 120 ml fresh-squeezed orange juice. Stir gently with a bar spoon or long spoon for 10–15 seconds to combine and chill without over-diluting.

Garnish & glass

  1. 4

Slice one orange wheel and place it on the rim of the glass or float it on top of the drink as a garnish. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer if desired.
