Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or chilled rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink to cool the glass.

2

Measure and combine

In a mixing glass, pour 2 oz rye whiskey, 0.5 oz bourbon, and 1 oz amaro.

3

Add bitters

Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters and 1 dash of orange bitters to the mixing glass.

4

Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice (about 1 cup). Stir gently but steadily for 30–45 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted (the mixing glass should feel cold and slightly frosty).

5

Strain

Discard ice/water from the chilled serving glass if used. Using a julep or Hawthorne strainer (and a fine strainer if desired), strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or a rocks glass over a large ice cube if serving on the rocks.

6

Garnish and finish

Garnish with 1 Luxardo cherry dropped into the drink. Optionally express an orange twist over the surface to release oils, run the twist around the rim, and drop it into the glass or discard as preferred.

Optional Serving

7

If serving over a large ice cube, pour the strained cocktail over the cube in a rocks glass. For a slightly brighter aroma, add the expressed orange twist before dropping in the cherry.
