Upgrade Your Fountain Drink To A Bottled Soda Recipe

   Confirm upgrade

   When the customer requests to upgrade their fountain drink to a bottled soda, confirm the flavor they want and check whether the upgrade price (if any) is accepted. Note any chain or franchise protocols for charging or substitutions.

   Retrieve bottled soda

   Select the bottled soda of the requested flavor from the refrigerated display or storage. Ensure the bottle is within sell-by date and unopened. Place the bottle on a clean service surface.

   Prepare cup (if requested)

   If the customer still wants their drink in a cup for immediate consumption, prepare a clean disposable or reusable cup. Add ice to the cup if the customer requested ice (use approximately 1 cup of ice for a medium/large cup).

   Pour or hand over bottle

   Either: a) Pour the bottled soda into the prepared cup, filling to the desired level while allowing headspace for carbonation (pour slowly down the side to reduce foam). Or: b) Hand the unopened bottled soda directly to the customer if they prefer the bottle. If pouring, leave the bottle on the counter for the customer to take (if they paid for the bottle).

   Add optional garnishes

   If the customer requested a lemon or lime wedge or a flavored syrup: a) For a wedge: cut or retrieve a pre-cut wedge and present it on the rim or place in the cup. b) For flavored syrup: add the measured syrup (about 1/2 tablespoon) to the cup and gently stir to combine. Note: do not add syrup directly to a sealed bottle.

   Include accessories and finish

   Add a lid and straw to the cup if applicable. If handing over the bottle, include a straw on the side if the customer requests. Confirm with the customer that the upgrade is correct and complete the transaction.
