1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking dish or cast-iron skillet.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.

In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.

4. Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

5. Add Cheese and Chives

Fold in the shredded white cheddar cheese and chopped chives.

6. Bake the Cornbread
