Gyoza Filling
Method
Preparation
Make the Filling
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped cabbage, green onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Assemble the Gyoza
Take a gyoza wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the filling in the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper in half, and pinch the edges to seal. You can create pleats for an authentic look.
Cooking Methods
To steam: Place the gyoza in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper and steam for about 10-12 minutes. To fry: Heat a tablespoon of oil in a non-stick skillet, place the gyoza in the skillet, and fry for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden. Then, add about 1/4 cup of water to the skillet, cover, and steam for another 5-7 minutes.
