Salad Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Begin by washing the iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and carrots under cold water to remove any dirt or pesticides.

  2. 2

    Chop the Lettuce

Remove the core from the iceberg lettuce. Chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place it in a large salad bowl.

  3. 3

    Slice the Tomato

Cut the tomatoes into wedges or slices, depending on your preference. Add them to the bowl with the lettuce.

  4. 4

    Slice the Cucumber

Cut the cucumber in half lengthwise, then slice it into half-moons or rounds. Add the cucumber to the salad bowl.

  5. 5

    Grate the Carrots

Peel the carrots and grate them using a box grater or a food processor. Add the grated carrots to the salad bowl.

Vinaigrette Preparation

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, red wine vinegar, fresh lemon thyme, honey, salt, and pepper.

  2. 7

    Whisk Together

Using a whisk or a fork, whisk the vinaigrette ingredients together until well combined and slightly emulsified.

  3. 8

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the vinaigrette and adjust the seasoning with more salt or pepper as needed.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Dress the Salad

Pour the vinaigrette over the salad mixture in the bowl. Toss gently to coat all the vegetables evenly.

  2. 10

    Serve

Serve the garden salad immediately in individual bowls or on plates, garnished with additional lemon thyme if desired.
