Method
Pickling
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the dill pickle slices and place them in a bowl. Pour buttermilk over the pickles and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to absorb flavor.
Breading
Mix the Breading
In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Coat the Pickles
Remove the pickles from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each pickle slice in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated. Shake off any excess breading.
Frying
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Pickles
Carefully add coated pickle slices to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove the pickles and drain on paper towels.
Special Sauce
Prepare the Special Sauce
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, honey, garlic powder, and salt. Mix until smooth and well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
