Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form into patties, making them slightly larger than the burger buns as they will shrink while cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly if desired.

  2. 6

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, sliced tomato, pickles, and your choice of ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
