Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined but do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form each portion into a patty that is about 3/4 inch thick.

Cooking the Bacon

  1. 3

    Cook Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon strips until they are crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess fat.

Cooking the Burgers

  1. 4

    Grill or Pan-Fry Patties

In the same skillet or on a grill, cook the burger patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  2. 5

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the skillet or grill to melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast Buns

Optional: Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer lettuce, a cooked patty with melted cheese, crispy bacon, tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles if desired. Add ketchup and mustard to taste.

  3. 8

    Top with Bun

Place the top half of the bun on each assembled burger.
