Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Chill a martini or coupe glass by placing it in the freezer for a few minutes or filling with ice water while you prepare the drink.

  2. 2

    Sugar rim

Rub the lemon wedge around the outer rim of the chilled glass (or the inside rim if preferred). Pour the granulated sugar onto a small plate and gently dip the moistened rim into the sugar, rotating to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

  3. 3

    Shake cocktail

In a cocktail shaker, add the SCS Lemon Drop vodka (2 oz), fresh lemon juice (0.75 oz), simple syrup (0.5 oz), and 6 ice cubes. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is well chilled and a light frost forms on the outside.

  4. 4

    Strain and serve

Discard ice water from the chilled glass if used. Double-strain the contents of the shaker into the prepared sugar-rimmed glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or just the shaker strainer) to remove ice shards. Pour until glass is nearly full, leaving a small headspace.

Garnish

  1. 5

Express a lemon twist over the drink to release its oils, then drop the twist into the cocktail or hang it on the rim. Optionally, float a thin lemon wheel or place the lemon wedge on the rim for presentation.
