Method
Cocktail

Combine base ingredients
In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass filled with ice, add 2 oz rye vodka, 2 oz cranberry juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup (use only if you prefer a sweeter drink). If using orange bitters, add 2 dashes now.
- 3
Mix
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 8–10 seconds to chill and slightly dilute the mix. If you prefer a lighter dilution, stir briefly in a mixing glass for 15–20 seconds instead of shaking.

Garnish and finish
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and float 2–3 cranberries in the drink. If using a mint sprig, slap it once between your palms to release aromatics and nest it beside the cranberries. Serve with a straw or stirring stick so the drinker can adjust sweetness and bitterness to taste.
Optional Adjustments
- 6
If the cocktail tastes too tart, add another 0.25 oz simple syrup and gently stir. If too sweet, add 0.25 oz more fresh lime juice or increase the tonic by 0.5–1 oz to dilute and add bitterness.
- 7
To make a pitcher (serves 6), multiply the base measurements by 6 and combine in a pitcher with ice just before serving; add tonic individually to each glass to preserve carbonation.
